MASSAGE TYPES

CUPPING                                                                                   Cupping is an ancient Chinese technique in which a vacuum is created with cups placed on the skin.  This suction causes the skin, fascia, and superficial muscle to be drawn into the cups.  This loosens the muscle tissue and increases range of motion. 

SPORTS MASSAGE                                                                 This massage utilizes faster massage strokes and includes assisted stretching to help athletes and weekend warriors achieve max performance and physical conditioning.  This massage focuses on your trouble areas and trigger points. 

NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY                                           This begins with specific strokes to break up adhesions in the connective tissue, followed by intense trigger point work to address deeper layers of muscle.  These trigger points can often “refer pain” to other parts of the body.  This is a great massage for tension headaches. 

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE                                                       This massage is to alleviate severe tension in the muscles and the connective tissue on top of muscles, also known as fascia.  It involves long gliding strokes with deep pressure.  Unlike a neuro massage, this massage doesn’t use trigger point therapy but focuses on the deeper tissues in larger muscles. 

SWEDISH MASSAGE                                                           This massage utilizes long, gliding strokes to gently break up knots in muscles.  It is the most widely known type of massage, and its primary goal is relaxation and stress relief by gentle strokes.
